Make these instant oats khichdi recipes at home, and say goodbye to obesity

Oats is one the best healthy option that supports weight loss. It is rich in fiber and makes you feel full for a longer duration.

When it comes to weight loss diet people get confused with the food. They often end up feeling bored with their diet or else eat something that does not helps them in weight loss.

Therefore, in this article, I will show you my way to make oats khichdi at home for weight loss.

How to make oats khichdi for a weight loss diet

The recipe is simple and needs simple ingredients easily available at your home. The best part about the oats recipe is that it is highly customizable by just altering some ingredients and way of cooking.

Another best part of the recipe is that it takes little time to prepare and suits your taste buds. Having said that, let’s have a look at the list of ingredients and cooking methods.

Ingredients:

  1. Plain oats (Check my favorite brand of plain oat) – 1 cup
  2. Onions – 1 small, chopped
  3. Green Chilies – 2 Pcs
  4. Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
  5. Peas – 1 tbsp
  6. Capsicum – 2 tbsp, chopped
  7. Carrot – 2 tbsp, chopped
  8. Cabbage – 1/2 cup, chopped
  9. Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
  10. Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  11. Black Pepper – 1 tsp
  12. Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tsp
  13. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  14. Lemon – 1 tsp
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Cooking oil – 1 tbsp
  17. Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp

Cooking method:

  • Take a pan and heat it, add cooking oil
  • In the heating oil, add mustard seeds, and heat it until it starts to splutter
  • It is time to add chilies and ginger-garlic paste to the pan, give it a stir
  • Now add chopped onions to the pan and stir well
  • Next, add all the veggies from the ingredients list and mix everything well
  • Now add salt and masalas in the given quantity, stir well
  • You can add a little water to avoid sticking
  • Cook everything well and add 2-3 cups of water, let the water boil
  • Once the water starts boiling, add plain oats to it
  • Keep stirring to avoid getting lumps
  • Check the consistency of water, add more if required
  • Bring the consistency to a medium level, switch off the stove
  • Next, add a few drops of lemon and mix well.
  • Take out the oats khichdi in a serving bowl and garnish it with fresh coriander leaves

Plain oats khichdi recipe

Here is another instant oats khichdi recipe that requires minimal cooking. It is even more weight loss friendly than the first one because I will not use oil here at all.

Ingredients:

  1. Plain oats – 1 cup
  2. Cabbage – 1/2 cup, chopped
  3. Onions – 1 small, chopped (Optional)
  4. Green Chilies – 2 Pcs
  5. Capsicum – 2 tbsp, chopped
  6. Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
  7. Turmeric Powder- 1 tsp
  8. Black Pepper – 1 tsp
  9. Lemon – 1 tsp
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp

Cooking method:

  • Heat a pan and 2 to 3 cups of water, let the water boil
  • Now add all the veggies to the boiling water
  • Next, add salt and let all the ingredients cook well until the veggies soften
  • Now add plain oats to the boiling water, and stir well to avoid lumps
  • Cook oats for 10 minutes until they become at medium consistency
  • Turn off the stove and add lemon juice, mix well
  • Take out in a serving bowl and garnish with fresh coriander.

It makes a little less tasty compared to the first one but it is very weight-loss-friendly. There is no oil in it and the recipe still tastes so well.

It makes sense to prepare the second version of the recipe if you are on a weight loss diet and progress faster with your weight loss.

Also, if you are using oil be sure to cook them in mustard, ghee, or olive oil, and avoid using refined oil.
